All one moderate, intelligent person can do is ask, how is this soccer mom running a major political movement? Well, I think we all need to set down our blinders and take a good long look at the situation.
We all remember back in 2007 when Palin crawled out of her cave, a time when we respected her, before she attempted to speak without regular coaching from her mentor and running mate, John McCain. Then, she did it, and in a fraction of the time it took good old George Dubya to show the nation his lack of rational thought and absence of intellect. The woman came out onto the scene during the last presidential election as McCain's lap dog, one who should have kept quiet, but instead she proceeded to yap, yap, yap until all of McCain's voters shriveled up and disappeared. Does anyone recall the countless sound clips, full length interviews, not to mention any/all public speaking events she clowned herself in?
At a certain point one has to stop making fun of her intellect, clearly it has nothing to do with her ability to attract people to her causieness or other jumbled and rambling acts of politicalizings. We have to cut back the layers of mental inferiority here and really look at the accidentally brilliant plan she almost made up to create her own devout sect of mid-west. Pay attention to what sounds familiar here from the Bush administration:
1. Fear- the most important ingredient.
I love when politicians use fear as a motivation, because it immediately separates those who are not intelligent from those who are, although, my brainy brethren can be snared occasionally too. The bottom line here is that this is the age old republican tactic of manipulating voters. They take things that likely will not ever happen to any of their audience and convince them they're next, often times these are fictitious and at the very least exaggerated upon heavily. Now it seems Palin's tactic here is to target mothers who are afraid of recession, terrorism, anything not christian and homosexuals. These things scare people who are stupid because- they were duped into abominable mortgages by people who were paying heavily into campaigns for candidates who would cut them breaks, the same way a lot of Palin's political opinions change depending on who is at the rally with their check book out. Like it or not, scaring the ignorant masses is very profitable, go figure. Its how all the military contracting companies have continued to grow unhampered through the years as they paid one blood lusting republican after an other to hate Islam and all the jewnigroricans or whatever the WASPS are morally against and afraid of.
2. TOTAL BULLSHIT-Yeah, its a technical term.
What happens with this step is that she has to keep heads nodding, so she brings up some shit that actually is a non-issue and is covered under [the basic spirit of] the constitution, but under her WASP regime is totally unacceptable and, often worse than murder. These issues include such nonsense as flag burning, gay marriage, and abortion. Now you may be saying, "Just a minute I care about.." BAM! That's how they get you, with these issues based, at the core, on personal principles, which, are in fact, personal principles and have little to do with the day-to-day life of the people who vote and pay taxes. Because, as a citizen, who pays taxes, and abides by the law for the most part should be able to burn a flag, of any kind, anywhere that isn't private property, while getting married to his male dog, with whom he has consensual sex, before he enters the clinic with his new husband to discuss possible solutions for their unexpected new addition that will absolutely wreck their young married life and current financial situation. Its called the constitution lady, start sending corporate criminals to jail. But now that she has distracted everyone from real politics they like her a lot more.
3. "NORMALCY"- This should all be one article now that I think of it.
Because it is all in fact just number 2 +1 mixed together. Normalcy plays a huge part in Palin's image, the classic "Hey y'all its time to help the little guy", "I'm a mom too, I know how tough it is", "Immigrants are stealing our jobs!" Hey lady, last time I checked, you are way better off than any regular schlup I know. You are not one of us, Sarah, you are a figure head, we are real people, with real jobs, that really fucking suck. If Palin wanted to truly just be an other citizen, she should have 2 people in her immediate family quit their jobs, get rid of her house she worked so hard for, and move into a shitty apartment, and then work, everyday, at a convenience store, just to barely make rent, so her and her family can simply continue to exist. My idea of an average American is something a little closer to this, I think, than some over-zealous mom prancing from place to place explaining how she understands (how?) and that she's here to fix it all up, if you vote. I'm not buying it lady.
4. I had intended to put a fourth one here, but I realized she only uses the three, and I wasn't about to give her credit for G.W. Bush and Co.'s brilliant fear mongering and distraction techniques.
I suppose the bottom line here, politics will probably never truly change. I'm honestly just hoping at this point the tea party transforms into a real party, I would like to see a serious political group with a focus on less federal power emerge from the group of angry 9-5ers who are sick of being lied to, who turn around and follow an outright liar. And a crappy one at that.
